The Wolfgang Special QM features a basswood body with an arched quilt maple top and a robust graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn baked maple neck. The neck is carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen’s exacting specifications and features a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish on the back. Primed for high performance, energetic riffing, and blazing leads, the 12 to 16-inch compound radius baked maple fingerboard has 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays. Truss rod adjustments have also never been easier thanks to a spoke wheel conveniently located at the base of the neck.

Bolt-On Quartersawn Baked Maple Neck with Eddie Van Halen's Unique Wolfgang Backshape
Bolt-on is a type of neck construction that joins the baked maple neck to the body of the guitar with screws or bolts, resulting in a bright tone with more control. Roasting the neck removes moisture from the wood, making it more resistant to humidity shifts and warping. The quartersawn grain runs the length of the neck for a stronger piece of wood and is also less susceptible to shrinking, warping, or splitting, while graphite-reinforcement rods flank the truss rod for even more increased neck stability. The Wolfgang back shape has a thicker profile in comparison to the standard or modified C-shape, with a .805-inch thickness at the 3rd fret and .890-inch at the 12th fret.
12-16-Inch Compound Radius Baked Maple Fingerboard
The innovative 12-16 inch compound radius baked maple fingerboard design gradually flattens toward the heel from its smaller and more rounded profile at the nut for unparalleled comfortable chording and riffing near the nut and seamless bending near the heel. Maple is a dense wood that produces bright, snappy tones, articulate notes with bite, and a tight low end. Roasting the fingerboard removes moisture from the wood, making it more resistant to humidity shifts and warping.
22 Jumbo Frets
Compared to a 24-fret neck, the design of a 22-fret axe shifts the neck pickup slightly farther away from the bridge, centering it at the sweet spot, and resulting in an overall warmer tone. The jumbo fret wire slightly increases the distance between the string and fingerboard for seamless and comfortable bends.
EVH-Branded Floyd Rose Special Locking Trem and R2 Locking Nut
Eddie Van Halen was the first player to popularize the innovative Floyd Rose locking tremolo, even advising Floyd Rose on his early designs to integrate round disc finger-type tuners that you would see on a cello or violin. Now universally embraced, the EVH-branded Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo features an EVH logo stamped on the bridge plate, zinc alloy saddles, and a zinc alloy sustain block. The double-locking design allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the R2 (41.8 mm) nut and at the bridge, resulting in excellent tuning stability and sustain throughout your most aggressive pull-ups and dive bombs.
