Description:
This is a Tollkeepers Cottage model, hand made and hand painted by David Winter in 1984. Crafted in Great Britain, this collectable miniature is made from refined gypsum plaster, a material often used for detailed and textured miniatures. The model features a small, rustic, multi-levelled cottage with a steeply pitched gabled roof. The roof is finished in terracotta-toned shingles, and the cottage walls are depicted in light ochre stonework with accents of greenery, imitating moss or vines climbing the walls.
The cottage has a prominent chimney and features small, shuttered windows, detailed in brown to resemble wood framing. The front of the house opens onto a stone bridge, which arches over a small tunnel or waterway. The stone bridge matches the cottage's stone façade, with nicely designed brickwork adding texture and depth to the model. Surrounding the cottage are detailed trees and bushes, with the greenery carefully textured to mimic full, leafy branches.
The model is identified by a felt-lined base, which includes a label stating the title "Tollkeepers Cottage" by David Winter, dated 1984. It represents a good example of David Winter's craftsmanship during the mid-1980s.
This decorative item can be used as a standalone display piece or as part of a collection of David Winter cottages. Its design and size make it suitable for display on shelves, mantelpieces, or as part of a village scene display.
