Original Sega Game Card, produced to promote Sega's new game Hang On II. This was a special item given away at 1987 AOU Show (Amusement Arcade Operator's Union) - a trade show for arcade employees to test out and purchase new machines. Limited edition card, which is numbered 398 . Card has been used.
VERY RARE item, these Sega Game Cards are really interesting collectables, and pieces of history. Back in the mid 1980s, Sega began producing these cards - they work in a similar way to prepaid phone cards, except for arcades, allowing the user a certain number of credits to use in whatever games they choose. Simple and convenient, with the bonus of getting to keep a cool little art card afterwards! These cards also allowed the user to enjoy unlimited credits on certain new machines displayed at AOU shows (Amusement Machine Operators' Union shows / Japan Amusement Expo) or JAMMA shows. (Apparently also in Sega's headquarters - we got this from a Japanese Sega collector, who received the card during a visit there and used it on the machines they had in the lobby!)
As you can see from the photos, card does have occasional tiny mark / wear, and holes from use. Is excellent for age, hand numbered on back. Original merchandise from the 80s! Measures 8.5cm x 5.5cm. Perfect collection / display item. Please take a look at photos, and if you have any questions, just ask!
