This is a rare collection of two lectures delivered by Andre Simon at Vintners' Hall in London in the early 1900's. Simon was a French-born wine merchant, gourmet, and prolific writer about wine. In 1908 he created 'The Wine Trade Club' with friends, organizing tastings and technical lectures that foreshadowed the 'Institute of Masters of Wine' 45 years later. This collection constitutes two of six of Simon's lectures that were published. The lectures were published either separately "for distribution to the staff of provincial wine-merchants," or as a monthly supplement to issues of "Ridley's Wine and Spirit Trade Circular." The lectures published separately came in two versions - a "plain" version with paper wraps, or - as offered here - a deluxe "presentation" version bound in green calf leather with gilt covers. Each lecture is a first edition published by Wyman & Sons in London.

The following two lectures are included:
* "The Wine Trade of England: Past and Present." A Lecture Delivered at Vintners' Hall by The Wine Trade Club. 20th November, 1911.
* "The Vineyards of the World." A Lecture Delivered at Vintners' Hall by The Wine Trade Club. 19th January, 1912.
