About the Author
Barbra Keele Lloyd—also known as Barbra A. Keele Barnes Lloyd—is a passionate genealogist, writer, and retired paralegal whose life story is as rich as the family histories she documents. She was born in the 1940s in a small farmhouse built by her father in 1945 on land that was once part of the Captain Barton plantations. Her early years were marked by both deep familial bonds and profound hardship. After the tragic death of her father in a farming accident, Barbra endured a difficult childhood, including time in foster care and an orphanage in Tennessee. Despite these challenges, she maintained lifelong connections with her foster parents and channeled her experiences into a lifelong pursuit of family history and justice. Barbra holds a bachelor’s degree in pre-law from Murray State University and an associate degree in English literature from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She also worked as a licensed insurance agent in Texas before retiring. Her dedication to genealogy is evident in her extensive contributions to platforms like WikiTree and Find a Grave, where she meticulously documents family lines and insists on accuracy and respect for original research1. She even authored a book titled Garrison Fork Baptist Church Minutes 1809–1933, preserving historical church records for future generations. Barbra Keele Lloyd’s family tree is quite extensive and deeply rooted in early American colonial history. On her paternal side, she traces her lineage to William Keel, father of Richard S. Keele and Lydia Richmond, with connections stretching back to the Virginia and North Carolina colonies. Her maternal line includes surnames like Comer, Foster, Bobo, Simpson, Owens, and Epps, reflecting a rich Southern heritage. She’s also a direct descendant of Richard Foster, one of the early settlers in the American colonies, and has researched lines such as Adams, McIntyre, Littleton, Anthony, Sevier, Barfoot/Barefoot, Bone, Matlock, Houston, and Green. Her work is meticulous—she insists on documentation and avoids copying unverified information, which makes her contributions especially valuable to genealogical communities.
