The miracle of Istanbul

Liverpool FC's homegrown heroes Jamie Carragher & Steven Gerrard achieved their lifelong dream of becoming UEFA Champions League winners after a magical final in Istanbul.

The pair, who both came through the Liverpool FC academy are legendary icons, praised and adored by the fans for their commitment to the club. The local duo were absolutely critical to the Reds 2004/05 Champions League success, with Gerrard being the captain and Carragher being the vocal leader at the heart of the defence.

Gerrard will always be remembered for his crucial winning goal against Olympiacos FC, as well as starting the comeback in Istanbul with his headed effort. Carragher made a famous last ditched tackle in the final and was solid throughout the competition. Two local lads who reached the summit of European football.
