Item Description

The EVE Audio SC207 Active 2-Way Midfield Studio Monitor is the reference solution among all professional 2-way monitors. It is a mid-range two-way monitor speaker and its size and form factor make it appropriate for a lot of different rooms. The nearfield monitor has great power efficiency that will let you examine what's happening in your music. The modest and elegant size of the SC207, along with its quality precision, will make it great in your setup without overwhelming your working area. The SMART-knob helps to simply set and save filters and volume. The bass reflex design helps for precise bass reproduction without background noise. With parameter lock, your settings are saved, even without power. With the safe fade-in, get a slow volume increase when switching on to protect ears and equipment.
Tech Talk
With the SC207, you will get an extended bass frequency response (down to 44 Hz), courtesy of the 6.5-inch SilverCone honeycomb structured woofer and driven by a sophisticated low distortion copper cap magnet system with the 1.5-inch voice coil. The result is a very tight and dynamic bass, along with the usual greater linear excursion. A PWM amplifier, with protection-limiting and capable of delivering a short-term output power of 100W, guarantees that the SC207 will never run out of juice. And with a maximum output level of 106 dB (SPL at 1m), you can be sure that there is plenty of power to make critical and precise judgments about your mixes. The SC207 is also the first EVE model monitor that uses the proprietary AMT (Air Motion Transformer) RS2. That means it can deliver a higher output level that is due to a bigger magnet system inside. As with every other EVE Audio speaker, you get both balanced XLR inputs and unbalanced RCA inputs for greater convenience.
DSP and SMART-Knob
All EVE Audio monitors feature high-resolution DSP electronics. A high-quality analog and digital converter from BurrBrown (24bit and 192kHz) converts the analog input signal supplied via RCA or XLR. The DSP provides latency-free filtering while protecting tweeters and woofers against overload across the entire frequency range. When switched on, the volume of the monitor increases slowly to leave enough time to reduce the source volume if the input signal is too loud. Adjustments to the acoustic environment can be made via the front rotary and pressure encoder, the SMART-knob with a rotating LED ring. This knob allows the leveling of system volume as well as the adjustment of filters for room variables (low shelf, mid eq, and high shelf filters). All settings are displayed on the LED ring, providing instant information about the selected values. The brightness of the LED ring can be adjusted for dark studios or video applications. High-quality Class D amplifiers complete the system and deliver enough power to the demands of modern music production. Selected volume and filter settings can be independently fixed with DIP switches that are positioned on the rear of the amplifier to prevent unauthorized or unintentional adjustments.
Understanding the Air Motion Transformer
The Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is a unique driver technology, distinct from other audio drivers. It utilizes a lightweight, hand-folded diaphragm that is thinly coated with aluminum. The current of the music signal flows through these conductive strands. The diaphragm is placed in a powerful magnetic field leading to movement in the folds caused by the Lorenz force. Due to the opposing direction of the current the walls of each single fold work against each other. The air between the folds is squeezed in and out at a ratio of 1:4, compared to the 1:1 ratio of a regular dome tweeter. This results in higher resolution and dynamics in the tweeter section, along with a very low distortion level, allowing superior sound quality with enhanced detail and clarity.
