This is a Standard Television tuner model 94C8 unit with support power supplies and an AGC supply system, which can deliver any value between 0 and negative 30V.
The application of it was in vintage TV servicing where it could substitute in for the original tuner in a TV set, as a test for a defective tuner, and provide a measured (metered) AGC voltage to the rest of the set too, as well as the Tuner.
Other applications for it could also be for a vintage television construction project, or perhaps even a donor tuner, but it might be a shame to break it up.
The Tuner is in excellent condition, accurately calibrated for all channel frequencies. The Standard 94C8 tuner was very popular in American TV sets post WW2, it was quite a masterpiece of engineering (see diagram) and probably set the standard for many other Tuner units that followed it. It is designed to feed video IF's in the center range of 21 to 26 MHz. The video carrier frequency out of the tuner is 25.75MHz and the sound at 21.25 MHz.
It tunes the standard American channels 2 to 13. I have checked this unit on the sweep generator and scope and frequency counter and it is in perfect alignment. Though being vintage gear , it as sold as is with no guarantees. But I think whoever gets it will be very happy. It would make a great asset for a vintage TV enthusiast.
The unit has new tubes fitted, I can send the empty boxes shown in the photos, if you want them. The unit will run from 115 or 230V 50 or 60 Hz simply a connection is changed inside, currently it is set to 230V, if you like I can change it before shipping to suit your line voltage. The unit has been fitted in the past with an IEC switched & fused line connector.
Note the shipping is $45 USD from Australia to the US for this item . (I have had some cases where ebay has incorrectly posted it, so pay no attention to any other listed value, it needs a large box to protect it)
PLEASE NOTE:
For some reason I have not being receiving Ebay automated messages that an item has sold (I have no idea why yet) So if you do buy it, please contact me to advise that you have.
