This early color added photograph captures a stunning image of General Robert E Lee, dated February 20, 1939. The photograph measures 9 x 12 inches and is an early colored photo.

The label attached to back shows that this was gifted from Senator Clark in 1939. This is Senator Bennett “Champ” Clark of Missouri. He and his father had a long history in Congress and his son a long history with Time/Life. There is no further info about the “Osborne Man” reference, but the Osborne Man was a door to door salesman selling calendars in that era. There are numerous people named P.D. Miller from that time. No conclusive connections found between Clark and Miller. The Clark family had connections to Washington and Lee University, as well as University of Virginia. This was gifted to a resident of Lexington, VA and then to me.

Bend in top of photo… can easily be removed and straightened. Photo is 12”x9”Wooden frame is nice and in good condition.
