PlantedReef™ is one of the few places in the UK where you can buy rare and unusual species of marine macroalgae. Our selection of macroalgae changes with availability. We frequently acquire new species of macroalgae, so check back often to see if we we have anything new!

All of our macroalgae is sent first class, packaged to survive the trip and in boxes which easily fit through a standard letter box, so you don't need to be in for delivery.

We have many of the most popular macroalgae such as Chaetomorpha (chaeto) and Caulerpa prolifera, both of which are ideal for adding to a refugium tank.

WHAT WE DO

Macroalgae is our absolute passion. Grown in dedicated systems, our algae is treated like a VIP. We extend this to our customers as well, because we value your needs as much as we do our livestock. All the macroalgae we sell is checked for quality and health before sending. We DO NOT send pieces that are too small or not of the highest quality.

Fully Inspected & Licensed

Our macroalgae growing facility has been fully inspected in person by the Animal & Plant Health Agency (DEFRA). We are registered plant sellers and are able to issue an EU plant passports with our macroalgae. This means you can buy from us with absolute confidence.

Delivering our Macroalgae

How we ship to you

All of our packages are shipped by 1st class Royal Mail service. We pack our macroalgae is fully submerged in water and inside a strong cardboard box to ensure it is alive and in good condition when it arrives. There is no need to be in or provide a signature as our boxes will fit through a standard letterbox. During the Colder months we use more packaging and heat packs if required. To reflect in increased shipping cost we may increase the price of our macroalgae to reflect this.

When we ship our macroalgae

Due to the sensitive nature of macroalgae we need to ship within a specific schedule to make sure it arrives in the best condition.
Our shipping structure means that we ship orders Monday - Thursday. This is purely to guarantee the best condition of your macroalgae when it arrives and that is doesn't get "trapped" in a Royal Mail sorting office on a Sunday where its condition will deteriorate.

Once you have ordered when will it be sent?

Orders received before 18.00 will be shipped next day, Monday to Wednesday.

Orders received later than 18.00 will be shipped the day after, for example orders placed 18.01 Monday will be shipped first thing Wednesday. Orders received Wednesday before 18.00 will be sent Thursday.

No orders are shipped Friday - Sunday as this could mean the algae sitting in the post office for too long.

All orders received after  Thursday - Sunday (Before 18.00) will be shipped Monday morning.

IF ITEM IS ORDERED BETWEEN THURSDAY - SUNDAY IT MAY BE MARKED AS DISPATCHED ON EBAY BEFORE BEING PHYSICALLY SENT

What to do if something goes wrong

If your algae doesn't arrive within the time schedule presented above or it has arrived in less than ideal condition you are covered by our guarantee.We we want you to have the best experience possible, all we ask is that if something does go wrong you contact us to resolve the issue.

Our Promise

Our macroalgae WILL reach you in good condition and health.
We WILL send you the highest quality macroalgae we can. No off cuts, no damaged or deformed pieces, no smaller than described.
When your macroalgae arrives it WILL be alive and in a state which will readily survive in your marine aquarium*

*Marine aquarium must be suitably aged, lit, setup, filtered, fed & good salt water quality conditions provided. We cannot accept any responsibility of loss of algae once it is put into your aquarium as these are conditions we cannot control or measure. Any loss of algae once unpacked and placed into recipients aquarium is entirely at the fault of the recipient.  We also do not accept responsibility if your marine fish such as Tangs or Angel fish eat your macro algae as it can be part of their natural diet.

What to do if you have a problem with your macroalgae

What we cover
If you encounter a problem with your delivery of macroalgae upon opening your package we require you to contact us via eBay messages
We require pictures of your algae within 24hrs of receiving the package in their sealed and unopened state and the reasons why it has not met your satisfaction. We require the algae to be sent back to us, at your cost, in the same unopened condition it arrived in. Once received we will refund your order.

What we DO NOT cover
We are more than happy to provide care and growing advice for your new macroalgae, feel free to contact us at any time.
However we cannot and will not accept returns of, or refund any macro algae which has been opened from original packaging (not including box) and/or placed into your aquarium.

ONCE THE MACROALGAE HAS BEEN PLACED INTO YOUR AQUARIUM WE CANNOT CONTROL THE ENVIRONMENT AND ANY LOSS IS AT THE RECIPIENTS RISK AND THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.

Additional information about macroalgae

Macroalgae may change colour during shipping, blue ochtodes for example tends to go maroon or grey. Once added to your aquarium it will regain natural colour after a week or two

Macroalgae will be eaten by some fish such as tangs, rabbit fish, angel fish, butterfly fish and others. Please research your fishes diet before purchasing. Fish eating your macroalgae is not a reason for a refund

Our macroalgae is grown in professional environment however it is not sterile. We do our best to make sure each piece is clean before sending. There is absolutely no Aiptasia guaranteed. However there may be copepods, amphipods, bristle worms and other normal reef invertebrates. None of the invertebrates that may be shipped with the macroalgae are "Pests" as they are part of a healthy reef environment. If you are uncertain please quarantine your macroalgae before adding to your main tank system. Do not freshwater dip macroalgae.
