OVERVIEW: Nicknamed “Maddie” … earned fifth year of eligibility by Notre Dame’s Faculty Board on Athletics in April 2015 after missing her freshman season (2011-12) with stress fractures in both feet … one of the nation’s elite “blue collar” players whose toughness and relentless work ethic served as a model to help lead Irish in 2015-16 … brought winning mentality and numerous intangibles to the table, providing remarkable leadership, success and value that dates back to her high school days — Cable’s teams posted a combined 255-22 (.921) record with seven NCAA or state high school semifinal appearances (leading to three titles and three runner-up finishes) in the last eight seasons she has been in uniform (2007-08 through 2015-16, excluding injury-plagued 2011-12 season at Notre Dame) … versatile player who plays both in the backcourt and on the wing … fundamentally-sound athlete who has a well-developed basketball IQ and picks up strategy and new concepts quickly … excellent perimeter shooting eye and is creative off the dribble … handles the ball well with either hand and is not afraid to attack the rim and get to the foul line … also battles fearlessly against taller players in the paint as a rebounder and defender … drew 48 charges during her career, including a team-high 31 during her final two seasons.
