The Workbasket was started by a husband and wife team, from their kitchen table. The first issue came out in October 1935. An bulletin with step-by-step directions for lovely needlework. It was a direct mail business for a subscription 

The main sections are on knitting and crocheting, Embroidery, Home & Cooking but there are also instructions on other miscellaneous items such as: place mats, stuffed toys, visor caps, hand bag sets, table runners, tablecloths, storybooks and more. There are also sections on cooking and gardening. Also included are articles, tips, pointers, and black and white photographs.
