Dale Bahr was a highly accomplished and respected figure in the wrestling world.
Elite Competitor: Bahr was a standout athlete at Iowa State, where he was a three-time NCAA All-American and an NCAA champion in 1968. He never finished lower than third in his three seasons of collegiate competition.
Renowned Coach: He had a distinguished 21-year career as the head wrestling coach at the University of Michigan (1978–1999). During his tenure, he achieved 221 career wins—the second-most in school history—and coached 43 All-Americans and two NCAA individual champions.
Hall of Fame Recognition: His contributions to the sport were significant enough to earn him induction into several halls of fame, including the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
