It belongs to Faber's Home Book series of national cookeries, alongside titles on Greek and other cuisines, and runs to 168 pages with a glossary of Turkish terms and about ten line vignettes drawn by the author. The recipes cover the meze, soups, kebabs and grilled meats, pilafs, vegetable dishes cooked in olive oil, boreks and pastries, yogurt dishes and the syrup sweets of the Turkish table, with notes on ingredients and methods. The book went into a second Faber edition in 1973 and was later named among the cookbooks every good cook needs by the San Francisco Chronicle.
