Offered here is a spectacular vintage antique DU game worn track and field jersey uniform from the 1930s or 40's (pre-WWII). This is part of a collection of letterman memorabilia that I obtained from a Denver antiques dealer. The collection probably came from the same athlete, a two-sport letterman in football and track who attended DU in the pre-war era. DU no longer has a football program (they ended it in the 1960s), but the program was filled with history and was an important college football program in the Mountain West for many decades. Today DU is better known for having premier Division I hockey, lacrosse, and ski teams.
The jersey offered here features a red diagnol stripe across the body with a yellow felt letter D sewn on the front. The uniform features a tag in the collar identifying the jersey as made by Wilson, probably the forerunner of the famous Wilson sports of today (and featured prominently in the Tom Hanks movie Castaway). The jersey has a size tag indicating size 38. Overall, this is a museum quality piece of college track history and a possible one of a kind item. It should be displayed behind glass at Magness Arena on the DU campus. Check out the rest of the collection I have listed on eBay, including an incredibly rare, museum quality football jersey, letterman sweaters, and more. I gladly combine shipping.
