This is a FIRST EDITION of Harry Lorayne's excellent 1964 booklet. Filled with really impressive card magic, none of which is very difficult to do.
Published in 1964, as a follow-up to his wildly successful book, Close Up Card Magic, Harry Lorayne's P.S. (or Personal Secrets) contains just nine routines, but each hand-picked by Harry in his effort to have a worthy follow-up to the quality of Close-up Card Magic.
No pick a card tricks in this one -- the routines are focused on the magi's skill (both real and apparent) in cutting aces, mentally divining the colors of cards in various packets, etc. The now-famous "Magician versus Gambler" routine is included here, as is a very cool Magic Square with Cards.
Written in Lorayne's inimitable (slightly pedantic, and occasionally annoying) style. :-) Though I feel Lorayne's contributions to magic literature started to lose their luster after Reputation Makers, this early booklet by him shows why his name will still go down in magic history as one of the best authors of card magic ever.
As mentioned above, this is the very first edition, green cover, and even before Tannen's started putting their Rabbit in Hat logo on the back of their publications. This book has been reprinted a couple if times, once by Tannen's in the 1970's, and once by D Robbins in the 1980s. But early 1964 first editions are exceedingly difficult to find. Particularly in such wonderful condition.
If not for a very old dealer's price penned on the upper corner of the title page, and some rubber stamps and gift message from the magician who originally purchased this book new in the mid-1960's, this booklet would be in MINT condition. Pages are clean and unmarked, covers are also clean and relatively free of smudges.
If you are into cards and have not studied this book... well, you should. 51 pages.
PLEASE READ CONDITION NOTES BELOW
CONDITION NOTES: previously owned, but in excellent condition. All pages are tight and clean, unmarked and undamaged. The inside cover and title page have rubber stamp of previous owner, and gift message to a friend. Also a very old dealer price penned on the upper right corner of the title page. Aside from these unfortunate marks, this book is would be in MINT condition, even after almost 60 years.
