Following World War II, the popularity of Stock Car Racing continued to grow, with many drivers traveling to compete. One of the first Stock Car Races held in the Northeast after the war was at the 1/2 mile dirt track, Allentown Fairgrounds, on July 4, 1946. Both Red Byron and Roy Hall would make the trip north from Atlanta for the 100 lap race promoted by Sam Nunis. Hall would win this race with Walt Keiper and Pepper Cunningham finishing second and third. Newspaper reports said this race was extremely dusty.
Please review the other racing items I have listed at the eBay store, The Checkered Past. I will combine shipping and provide a refund on shipping charges for anything over cost. Thanks!
