Listing Title:
New Sealed Genuine HP 91 C9470A Light Cyan HP Warranty Ends 16 MAY 21 SHELF WEAR
More Details about Title Content:
SHELF WEAR These are the last 2 words of the listing title, but I feel that they should be addressed first. While this ink's retail box has clearly never been opened, nor does it show any signs of damage that could have caused any actual damage to the heavy ABS plastic cartridge stowed in a bag inside that box, it shows more than a typical amount of "Wear and Tear". One end has taken a kind of "hit" that left that cornor "squished in" like a short bit of an accordion's "bellows". There are some stains on the front panel. Every single corner is, to some extent, rubbed to where the original color of the package is worn off leaving a spot of plain cardboard visible. Many 90 degree edges show the top colored layer rubbed off a bit. There are shallow dents in many places, and shallow "creases" (lines where the paper has been slightly dug in, as if someone dragged a "stylus" over the paper leaving a shallow "valley" behind). I've actually used up 23 out of the maximum of 24 photos eBay allows a seller to post on a listing using eBay's own listing tools, something I rarely feel a need to do when I'm only selling a single item in a listing.
Why all the detail and 23 out of 24 photos? Because unless you're a "reseller" of inks and toners, who always want the most "pristine" products they can buy low on eBay and then resell high somewhere else, I don't think you need to care about anything I've described, because it's not going to have a negative impact on the use you'll get out of this product. Bottom line: I'm not afraid of the outward condition of the retail box, but if you're an ink or toner reseller, I want you to see up front the condition of this item's retail packaging, and almost certainly decide not to buy it regardless of how sure I am that what's inside the box is in as good condition as a box that looks like it came right off a retail office supplies store shelf.
But if I'm wrong, and anything looks wrong about what you find inside, please don't even install it. Just initiate a request for a return and refund and I'll promptly take care of that for you.
HP Warranty Ends 16 MAY 21: This means that the HP "Warranty Ends" date on this product has passed, which is true not only for almost all 91 Series inks I've ever listed on eBay, but also true from what I've seen for over half of all genuine HP 91 series inks listed and/or sold by any eBay sellers when I've checked into that issue since I first started listing HP 91 inks I've obtained in at least 3 different purchased lots since May 2022. But an HP "Warranty Ends" is not an "expiration date" or similar "cutoff" date. In other words, those inks won't simply "shut down" just because their "Warranty Ends" dates have been reached.
From my experience of over 20 years buying, selling, and using HP inks, you'll still get a great value in terms of quantity and quality of output for the prices I've set (based on my checking actual completed eBay sales' prices for comparable date/condition genuine sealed HP 91 series inks on eBay. That's especially true for very large format "ink tanks" such as the cartridges for the 91 series, which weigh around 2 pounds each not including their packaging, dwarfing most other HP ink products. These have just 2 rubber or silicon sealed openings just for ink to be dispensed through. No built in print heads drawing on a few spoonfulls worth of ink, as is true for the great majority of all HP inkjet cartridges sold. And with 775ml of ink inside each such "tank", a lot could be lost due to evaporation, even with the initial plastic/foil bag each cartridge is packed into within its retail cardboard box, and you'd still have a lot of liquid ink left. But do follow HP's advice and do a lot of shaking of the cartridge before installing it, to try to get back "into solution" any ink solids that might have fallen out of suspension before use.
Source, Condition and Photos:
As mentioned above, we obtained this ink from a government surplus agency. As a department replaces printing equipment, they often end up with supplies they no longer need. To offset expenses, the user sends them to a surplus supplies warehouse, which in turn sells off such supplies, some of which I buy and then resell on eBay.
Nothing Hidden From Buyers (the way some other eBay sellers' listings do)
Please watch out for these 3 common examples of eBay seller listing practices that (on purpose or not) don't provide buyers with the key details that my ink and toner listings always do:
1. The item isn't sold in its original box, meaning you have no idea how old it is, or whether the condition of the missing box if you could see it might suggest that the item, even if still sealed in a bag, might not be in the best condition. Never forget that a "new" item could be over 10 years old! By contrast, my photos highlight any areas of an item's box that have more than slight "shelf wear", and I always by photos and/or text share any information I have about any date(s) displayed on the box.
2. Sometimes sellers use only "stock" photos from a seller's inventory, or even use the manufacturer's brand new stock photo, sometimes adding a "disclaimer" that "warns" you that what you'd get might not look llike the photos. I won't use a stock photo from any source that isn't a 100% fair and accurate representation of what a buyer on a listing of mine would actually get, and other than items that look like they just came out of a sealed case from the manufacturer, I'll never use a manufacturer's own stock photos.
3. I don't "pad" my shipping charges by charging an unreasonably high flat rate when I charge anything for shipping at all, to use those charges as a "profit center" to offset charging a low "buy" price just to "lure you in" as some other sellers do. I also don't charge materials, handling, or similar seller add-on fees to offset a low "buy" price.
Please keep the above facts about some other eBay sellers of comparable items in mind while comparison shopping. You will often find that while others may charge a lower "buy" price to get your attention for an item that appears comparable to one of my own listings, you'll save money buying from me with my shipping charges and/or my "buy" price. And if you think any of the above listing prices are "sneaky", and could mean that other things are going on with those sellers that you'd worry about if you only knew what else they might be up to, you might take that into overall consideration of who you want to do business with.
I'm just doing the best I can to try to "level the playing field" here, by helping you to be an informed shopper. While my approach to listings can increase my own out of pocket shipping costs, and takes me far more time to prepare listings than the "bare bones" style listings many others use, I hope you'll find my approach is worth it to you.
"Best Offer" Tips and Conditions:
You can skip this entire section if you wish, if you are planning on paying the full Buy It Now price (which you might want to do if you're in a hurry to get ink(s) shipped to you, rather than wait for me to respond to an offer) rather than ask us if we're willing to sell for less than that full price.
Things that make a Best Offer more attractive to us include:
a. If a buyer (in either a single offer or multiple offers) offers to buy multiple items within a short time, all going to the same address, we may be able to save on whatever part (if not all) of the shipping cost we pay for such a combined shipment.
b. If the buyer is located in or right next to the San Francisco Bay Area, our shipping costs may be lower, depending on how many items are bought and what shipping methods are available, than if we'd be shipping out of state.
c. If this listing offers a "free local pickup" option, if the buyer, using a "text box" supplied by eBay for "terms" of an offer, commits in their offer to using the "pickup" option during "ebay checkout", that is another thing we'll consider since we'd not have to pay some or all of the cost to ship.
d. Honesty and full disclosure in offers made to us is key, just as we prepare our listings based on honesty and full disclosure. For instance, if a buyer plans to insist that we ship to a different address than eBay (from its records for that buyer) will have automatically displayed with that buyer's "Best Offer", they need to do disclose that plan to us in writing in advance, as part of the offer itself. If that doesn't apply to you, you can skip ahead to the next full section that talks about how fast we'll ship.
There's a simple reason why we have that requirement about item "(d)":
We might accept a discounted offer for something with free shipping if we knew based on the address that eBay automatically displays (based on its files about a buyer) along with an offer that shipping was going to cost us $5, that we'd never have accepted if we knew the buyer was going to change the address after the sale to a location 2000 miles away that would cost us $15 to ship instead. And with big heavy ink tanks like these, the cost to ship further away than disclosed in the offer could be much higher than the offer led us to believe.
We therefore reserve the right to cancel the sale and refund any moneys received by us as a result of the sale if a buyer insists after the sale that we use an alternative shipping address that we didn't agree to use before the sale took place.
WE SHIP WITHIN 1 BUSINESS DAY AFTER PAYMENT, AND SOMETIMES ON THE ACTUAL DATE OF PAYMENT:
Our commitment on this sale is to get your item(s) to the shipper within one business day after payment. This often means that if we're paid by 11am California time on non-holiday Mondays through Fridays (and including through Saturdays if we'd be using the USPS to ship early and it's the least expensive option open to us to do so), we can manage to ship the same day as paid.
FREE "ECONOMY CLASS" SHIPPING (MEANS YOU MIGHT GET A FREE UPGRADE TO "STANDARD" OR EVEN "EXPEDITED" CLASS SHIPPING):
eBay defines "Economy Class" shipping as meaning a shipping service that is supposed to get a buyer's item to them within 10 business days (plus our standard 1 business day after payment handling time between payment date and shipment date). When you choose "Free Shipping", we will pick the least expensive (for us) shipping method/service that meets eBay's "Economy Class" rules. And if that means choosing a higher level of shipping such as "Standard" class or even "Expedited Class" when doing so is less expensive for us than using an often slower Economy class service (yes, as odd as that seems, that is true fairly often), we'll upgrade you to Standard Class or even Expedited Class at no added cost. Just wait for us to send you an invoice, rather than paying right after eBay sends you a "payment reminder" right after the purchase, to see if we can offer you that free upgrade. Most of the time we'll invoice you within a few "business hours" after the sale if you haven't already paid, and sometimes in under an hour.
OPTION OF EXPEDITED SHIPPING VIA OUR CHOICE OF EBAY'S "EXPEDITED SHIPPING" CHOICES THAT CALL FOR DELIVERY WITHIN 4 DAYS OF DATE OF SHIPMENT:
You can decide at time of checkout to pay $8 extra for us to ship a single ink via an eBay-provided Expedited Class service that calls for delivery within at most 4 business days (plus our standard one day processing timeafter the date of payment) such as FedEx One rate Two Day, or USPS Priority Mail, if you're in a hurry (and want to be sure that we'll use an Expedited Class alternative allowed by the terms of this listing). We'll choose the least expensive option for us that calls for a delivery in at most 3 business days after shipment.
To do that, just choose the service we've chosen to represent "Expedited Shipping", which is USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box. If we can find a less expensive option that eBay approves for "Expedited Shipping" that calls for delivery within 3 business days of the shipment date, we'll use that one instead.
If it turns out that we'd have upgraded you for free per the prior section, we'll refund this upgrade fee if you'd paid it.
If you do choose this Expedited class upgrade option, we'll try extra hard to ship the same day as paid if paid by 11am on a business day, rather than by the next business day as the listing allows.
FREE LOCAL PICKUP (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY): PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT TO PICK THIS UP FROM US AT NO CHARGE TO YOU OTHER THAN YOUR PURCHASE PRICE (plus sales tax if added by eBay):
If you want to pick this up from us at our location in the San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay) you need to make that choice during "ebay checkout" before you finish and pay. Otherwise, whether you actually chose to have us ship, or let eBay make that choice for you automatically if you didn't choose Free Pickup instead, eBay will require us to "ship" rather than allow a free pickup, even if both of us would be happy to do this via a free pickup.
We're a small outfit that does not have an always-available pickup or customer service department, so pickups must be by appointment only. But we are flexible, and pickups are not necessarily limited to weekdays or specific times of day, other than in general, not later than 9pm and not earlier than 7am weekdays, or 9am on weekends. We're reasonable people at this end, as our feedback should show, so if we work together, setting up an appointment that works for all should not be difficult. Thanks!
RETURNS IN GENERAL:
Please contact us first in order to initiate a return.
Be sure to save all shipping and packing materials (box, padding, etc.) for the length of the potential return period, in the event a return is to take place. If you have any questions at all about the condition of the materials, however, please contact us first to confirm that we would authorize you to re-use those materials in returning an item to us, since sometimes those materials get chewed up enough during initial delivery that they need to be repaired or replaced before being re-used.
BUYER NO-FAULT RETURNS:
30 calendar day return time, running from date of first attempt at delivery, if you return your purchase for any or no reason in the same condition as sent (e.g., new, sealed in original box, undamaged unless you can show it was damaged during transit), at your expense. So if you open a sealed retail box (even if the contents inside remain sealed), or if you do something that causes one of these to become damaged due to abnormal use or an equipment failure (e.g., your printer catches fire and at least partially melts or even just "cooks" the ink inside it), those are good examples of things that would not qualify as a basis for a "NO-FAULT RETURN".
CLAIMED SELLER FAULT RETURNS:
Ebay has a special "guarantee" provision that it applies to most items for sale on the site, including I believe everything I sell, lets you return almost anything within 30 days after receiving it, if what was purchased is not what the listing represented it to be, at the seller's expense. Please see exact details as provided by eBay at the top of this listing. To the extent that ebay allows it, you must use a shipping class and type that costs no more than what we used to ship your item(s) to you.
Thanks for reading all the way to the end!
If you have any questions about this listing, please contact us through eBay "Ask Seller a Question". We generally respond within 3 hours of when a message is sent, 7 days a week, between 6am-11pm California (Pacific) time. Most of the time we'll respond much faster than that, often within an hour.
