2 Hand Carved Wooden Quail on Burled Wood

This is a wonderful set of 2 carved wooden quail on a burled wooden stump. These are not made of iron wood, but I'm not sure what kind of wood it is. There is a larger quail and a smaller quail in the front. Both are complete with top feathers and beaks. It is signed on the bottom Rudi Hermes and dated '86.

The piece measures 8 3/8 inches tall and is 8.25 inches long and about 3.5 inches wide.
