Very good. In this novel Wells imagines the changes in geopolitical warfare brought about by aircraft, when whole cities can be destroyed remotely by bombardment. The story follows Bert Smallways, who is, by a series of somewhat unbelievable coincidences, a witness to all the most important military conflicts and returns. The story is narrated by an omniscient figure, reporting the story as history -- the novel thus qualifies as both a future history, and now as an alternative history.
