This is a superb quality crystal fruit salad set, comprising a serving bowl and six matching individual bowls. The set was made in Neustadt, Western Germany, by a glasshouse known as Elisabeth Hutte. (There should be an umlaut over the "u" in Hutte, but I don't have that punctuation on my laptop.) The body of the bowls has been moulded, then the decoration under the base has been added. I would estimate this set to date to the 1970's. I'm happy to be corrected on this point by anyone with better knowledge than myself!

The serving bowl is 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) tall and 21 cm (8.25 inches) in diameter across the mouth; and each individual bowl is 3.5 cm (1.5 inches) tall and 11.5 cm (4.5 cm) in diameter across the mouth. I haven't measured the capacity of the bowls because I don't want to spoil the labels. The full set in the original boxes weighs 3 kilos before packaging.

These items have clearly never been used. All labels are still in place - fruit salad (or trifle, or chocolate mousse) can't be served in bowls with the labels in place!!  My guess is that they were a wedding present that was just stored away and never used.
