Vintage 1953 baby bonnet purchased at Lord and Taylor, NYC.
White dotted Swiss fabric with pink satin ribbon trim. The ribbon tie has not been cut; it has the original loop.  28" long total length.
There is tiny Valenciennes lace trim all around.
Little pink ribbon rosettes trim.
2 tiny mother-of-pearl buttons at the back of the hat.   One button is a bit loose.  The button loops are elastic.
The seam that attaches for the front visor is carefully bound so as to be soft for the baby.  (Photo #7)
A very special baby hat!!

The fabric has yellowed some with age.
In storage since late 1950's.  Smoke-free, pet-free, dust-free storage.

Lord and Taylor Young Peoples Floor label inside.

Additional information:

The bonnet is not stained but is is yellowed from age, particularly along the center where it has been folded for at least 65 years. I pressed the fold with a professional pressing iron, and it pressed beautifully, but you can definitely see the yellowing. The satin ribbon trim along the brim is twisted for decoration, and hand sewn. There is a tiny 1/4" Valenciennes lace trim all around. The brim, from seam to lace edge is 1 7/8" wide at the widest area. From cap back to brim seam is 4 1/2". Total length from back to front is 6 3/8". The back opening is 8 1/2" around. The buttons are Mother of pearl and the button loops are round elastic.
It is completely lined in organdy.
The brim seam is bound with a narrow bias binding, likely cotton.
There are no stains, spots, rips, holes in the fabric..
