BIO: Michael Jorgensen played in 17 MLB seasons playing career spanning from 1968 to 1985, he played primarily with the Mets and Montreal Expos and had brief stints with the Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics. He also has served as a manager for the Cardinals. Jorgensen is the only major league baseball player to have been born the day Babe Ruth died. The New York Mets signed a contract with him in 1966. Jorgensen made his major league debut with the New York Mets as a September call-up in 1968. He played the entire 1969 season in the minors. On April 5, 1972, he was traded with Tim Foli and Ken Singleton to the Montreal Expos for Rusty Staub.

Beanball incident

On May 28, 1979, Jorgensen was hit in the head by a pitch from Boston Red Sox pitcher Andy Hassler. Dave Roberts entered the game to pinch run for Jorgensen, and Pat Putnam took over as the Rangers' regular first baseman for the next month. Excluding one pinch-hitting appearance on May 31, he did not play again until July 1. After suffering headaches, it was discovered he had a small blood clot inside his head, which apparently caused a seizure, and could have resulted in death. Following the season, he was traded back to the Mets to complete a mid-season deal in which the Mets had sent Willie Montañez to the Rangers for two players to be named later (the other player the Mets received was pitcher Ed Lynch). On July 4, 1980, Montreal Expos rookie Bill Gullickson sailed a pitch over Jorgensen's head in the second game of a doubleheader. Jorgensen motioned towards Gullickson in disapproval. Mets catcher John Stearns then charged out of the dugout and slammed Gullickson to the ground.

BIO: Jesse Hudson 1969 New York Mets World Series Champion. Is an American former professional baseball pitcher who appeared in a single Major League Baseball (MLB) game in 1969. Listed at 6 feet 2 inches and 165 pounds, he threw and batted left-handed. Hudson was born in Mansfield, Louisiana and played football quarterback and pitcher at Mansfield High School with Vida Blue. They both graduated and were drafted in the June Baseball draft of 1967. Hudson was drafted in the 11th round (203rd overall) of the 1967 MLB draft by the New York Mets. He went on to play four season in the Mets' minor league farm system, 1967 through 1970. On September 19, 1969, Hudson made his one and only major league appearance, pitching the final two innings of a Mets home loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Shea Stadium. It was the second game of a doubleheader (baseball). He faced 10 batters, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three batters and walking two. One of the batters he struck out was future Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Willie Stargell. He finished with a 4.50 ERA. During Hudson's final professional season of 1970, he pitched for the Mets' Triple-A team, the Tidewater Tides, registering a 2.86 ERA in 26 games (13 starts) with a 6–7 record, while striking out 79 in 107 innings pitched.
