This is for an original full ticket from the March 14 1964
basketball game played between the Los Angeles Lakers and San Francisco
Warriors at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The game would be a 111-95
win for the Warriors with Wilt Chamberlain leading all scorers with 55 points. This
is just another of Wilt’s records as he leads all NBA scorers with an amazing
118 50 point games. To put that in perspective, Michael Jordan is second with 31
50 point games while Kobe is third with 25. This would be the first year that
the Warriors would play with the original “Twin Towers” as they had drafted future
Hall of Famer 6’ 11” Nate Thurmond out of Bowling Green to be a power forward alongside
the 7’ 1” Chamberlain. Nate would only score 2 points but would pull down a game
high 16 rebounds while Wilt would pull down 14. Wilt would also lead the
Warriors with 8 assists adding to his impressive stat line. The Lakers would
have four players in double figures with Elgin Baylor scoring 28 with Dick
Barnett adding 20 while Jerry West and Rudy LaRusso would each chip in 19
points. This is the only full ticket from this game in the PSA population
report and PSA actually messed up the flip as it should read Baylor 28 and not
Baylor 2. Actually the reference to Baylor isn’t even that important as the
only real news is Wilt recording another of his incredible 50 point games. With every Wilt 50 point ticket being an
important keepsake, maybe this could be someones start to collecting all of
Wilt’s 118 50 point game tickets A must have for any Wilt fan or basketball
ticket collector.
