Thao Chatu Lokaban is a deity who guards the suffering and happiness of humanity in all four directions and protects against dangers. The Four Heavenly Kings include: 

  1. Thao Dhatarattha: Guardian of the East, tall and slender with green skin, left hand holding a lute, right hand plucking the lute, with Gandharvas as followers. 
  2. Thao Virulhaka: Guardian of the South, fair-skinned with a balanced and beautiful body, red face, left hand holding a snake, right hand holding a sword, with a crown adorned with Naga images, and Asuras as followers. 
  3. Thao Virupaksa: Guardian of the West, white-skinned, plump, with a large belly, short neck, big head, white fangs protruding from the mouth, big eyes, short legs, robust body, left hand holding a bow, wearing red garments, with Nagas as followers. 
  4. Thao Kuvera (Thao Wessuwan): Guardian of the North, a three-legged giant with eight teeth, four arms, white body, wearing beautiful garments, with a gourd-shaped crown on the head, muscular and well-proportioned, right hand holding a long club, with giants as followers.
