I make these crosses from solid cedar with one of 5 different designs carved into them. They are made from 5 1/2" wide by 1/2" thick cedar plank with a rough finish. They intersect with a half lap carve out and are screwed together in the back. I make them in two finish options, first is just natural with no finish allowing you to either leave them as is to naturally gray over time or giving you the option to finish them any color you would like to fit your decor. The other option is a burned "Shou Sugi Ban" finish. With these, I spray a flat Polyurethane finish over the char to keep the black from rubbing off. I use a CNC router to cut in the designs and cross over pockets.
The crosses come with a hanging loop on top. They are shipped disassembled to save on shipping costs. All that is required once you get it is to install 4 small screws in the back through the pre-drilled holes for assembly.
These make a great addition to a rustic themed home. They are light weight and have a nice cedar smell.
