Max Greger was born on 02.04.1926 in Munich.
In addition to school, he studied clarinet and saxophone at the Munich Conservatory. His musical career began in the post-war period, where Max Greger was one of the first German musicians to play swing and jazz music in the American officers' casinos. During the day he played with his orchestra for Bavarian radio and at night hot jazz in the clubs.
The first record successes such as "Teenager Cha Cha" and "Rock Twist" were followed by extensive tours throughout Europe.
With "Singing Hills" (1958, #21) and "Moscow Nights" (1959, #52), he also achieved his first placements in the charts. After a successful tour with Maria Hellwig and Udo Jürgens, the Max Greger Orchestra achieved its big breakthrough in Germany. In the 60s and 70s, the orchestra was an integral part of popular television programs such as "Vergißmeinnicht" and "Der goldene Schuß".
Also unforgotten are his dance tournament records, to which whole generations learned to dance.
Max Greger and his orchestra inspired both the younger generation with their Rock'n'Roll and Jazz titles, as well as the older ones with Swing, Cha-Cha and Rumba.
Max Greger continued to give concerts with changing line-ups until 2015. On August 15, 2015 Max Greger passed away in his hometown Munich.
