Australia 1979 Proof Coin Set
Obverse: Elizabeth II to right, legend around
Reverse: Circulating coin designs
A complete set of Australian proof coins dated 1979, in FDC condition.
Australia has been producing proof year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966.
Coin collecting was in a boom period in the early 1980's, proof sets were particularly popular. Proof coins are the same as those we see in our change, but are struck with specially prepared machinery on specially prepared blanks - the designs always stand out magnificently.
Some 1979 proof sets included a 50¢ piece that had double bars in the space just to the right of the emu's head - these sets are particularly scarce and always keenly snapped up by sharp eyed variety collectors.
The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging.
It comes with the original protective foam outers and certificate.
