Whole ore with the outer crust cut away and hand polished with no coatings from the 1800s Ore Knob Copper Mine, Ashe County, North Carolina, USA. No to very light areas with magnetic properties, sulfide mixed precious metal ore with a trace amount of copper. In the photos you can see acid test results after 15 and up to 35 minutes in muriatic and nitric testing acids. Very minimal melting of random filings, 12 to 22K gold testing acid, silver and platinum testing acids. Results show all precious metals of gold silver and platinum. Note that the silver color platinum remains in all tests as well as the gold color remains in all acid tests, which indicates high grade gold. Sulfide ore does put of a strong sulfur smell in the polishing of the ore but only when polishing, it is aging and loosing the property. Black patina devolves over a period of long time, photos of the ore are fresh just after a cleaning. Large heavy ore, 4 pounds + in weight.
