Used New Zealand postage stamp from 1862, featuring the classic Chalon Head design in a bright fresh red-brown colour (SG55). It has a rouletted 7 perforation and is denominated at 6d, printed by John Davies in Auckland and then rouletted in May 1862. The stamp has a small closed tear at top, but still has very fine appearance. Rouletting is apparent at the top and top right. This pre-decimal stamp was lightly handstamped--mostly clear face. This is a very rare stamp with a SG (2023) catalog value of 650 Pounds Sterling = CAD$1,047.
My price is only 7% of SG catalogue value.
