Hakata Urasaki ceramic figurines have a long history in Japan dating back to the 17th century. These figurines are known for being delicately made, with hands, fingers, and other fine parts sculpted separately and then attached to the figures. In the late 1800s, Hakata Urasaki figurines evolved to represent more realistic and natural representations of people, and were very richly colored.
