The 1954 Stark & Wetzel cards were a promotional campaign where an Indianapolis 500 Winners card would be inserted in the packaging of one of their meat products. There are a total of 37 cards in this set, and they are very rare. As of this posting, a total of 47 cards have been submitted to PSA for grading, and only a single Dario Resta card.
Dario Resta was born in Italy in 1882 and moved to England with his family when he was two. He won the Vanderbilt Cup in 1915 and 1916 and was a second place finisher at the 1915 Indianapolis 500. In 1916, he was the AAA National Champion, which included a victory at the 1916 Indianapolis 500. He was killed in 1924 while racing at Brooklands in Surrey, England. His career ended with 10 victories in 34 races on the Championship circuit.
