An exquisite pair of antique Japanese plates, believed to be by Toemon Kosaka and made in Yokohama, c.1900.

I don't know a great deal about these plates, they arrived along with various fine pieces of Japanese ceramics that I acquired.

I understand they depict the Chūshingura (47 Ronin) from Japanese literature.

Crafted from fine bone china, these interesting plates feature stunning hand painted scenes, with impressive detail. The plates are lavishly embellished in gold.

These plates are a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the period. 

A perfect addition to any collection for those who appreciate the beauty of rare antiques.

Each plate measures approx. 18cm across.
