This toy requires a 9 volt battery for the controller which is not included.

The large rechargeable battery pack (red) contains a sealed lead acid rechargeable battery.

Like all of the listed XFO's here on eBay this one is approximately 20 years old.  I have no idea if it will still charge.   

  

I am sure you can replace the battery inside the case with a new one if you're handy.

I bought this new along with another, this one was never opened, its a fun toy. I think I bought it at Kmart!
