Offerred for sale is a nice copy of a circa 1916 catalogue from the California Perfume Company, the precursor to Avon. This copy has a pebbled black leather cover with light green artwork and title and is bound by 2 rivets. It is undated but includes a page highlighting the receipt of a gold medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915 and is believed to have been printed in the 1916 - 1920 time period. The catalogue itself has 32 tabbed pages of colored products, each with a corresponding page of descriptions printed in light green ink. Also included are 5 addition pages laid into a flap in the back cover, 4 double sided with products, 1 with products on 1 side and description on the back. The products in the catalogue are mainly beauty and personal care products for women and men but there are a few pages of cooking and cleaning products.
The catalog is 10” x 15” and is in good condition. The front cover has a curled edge and a chipped top corner, else minimal wear to the leather. There are a few pages with small edge tears and creases and the back page highlighting the Panama-Pacific Exposition has a darkened edge.
