Department of Oregon
The Department of Oregon was one of two Army Departments created September 13, 1858,
replacing the original Department of the Pacific and was composed of the Territories of Washington and Oregon,
except the Rogue River and Umpqua Districts, which were assigned to the Department of California.

aka

Its creation was authorized by General Orders, No. 10, of the United States Department of War,
Adjutant-General's Office, September 13, 1858. Its headquarters was at Fort Vancouver, in the Washington Territory.

aka

The Territory of Oregon was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from
August 14, 1848 - February 14, 1859, when the southwestern portion of the territory was
admitted to the Union as the State of Oregon. aka

pre-statehood
(< 1859)

So,
Technically and/or legally,
this mounting title (DEPT. OF OREGON) was in effect for but five or six months
-
August 14 or September 13, 1858 to February 14, 1859

What're the odds of finding anything marked thusly .....

Originally claimed by several countries (see "Oregon Country"), the region was divided between the
British Empire and the US in 1846.
When established, the Oregon Territory encompassed an area that included the
current states of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, as well as parts of Wyoming and Montana.
The capital of the territory was first Oregon City, then Salem, followed briefly by Corvallis, then back to Salem,
which became the state capital upon Oregon's admission to the Union in 1859.

.

FINE PRINT!
Please read before bidding.

I attempt as accurate description as possible, and include photo/s. Unintended errors and omissions may occur, so I strongly urge all bidders to examine all here, and email me with any questions, clarifications, or concerns prior to bidding. I will do my best to answer or clarify asap.

I'm no expert on anything, and determine quality or condition based on my subjective judgment, if given. Since quality or condition is highly subjective, and since most I offer here may be USED, OLD or VINTAGE, all items are offered "AS IS" and all sales are final unless I have grossly misrepresented the item! Don't bid unless you want to own it! I will do my best to work out any problem, should one arise, before & after auction closes.

Finally, my items and packing materials often are used/recycles, and as such I can not gaurantee they have never been exposed to dirt, dust, airborne allergens, peanuts, wild women, wild men, smoke, alcohol, children, ozone, animals, bugs, politicians, petroleum products, or other irritants, including irritating people.
If any of those things bother you, then please do not bid.
Thanks for your understanding, and Good Luck.
