Antique RS Germany Porcelain Oval Dish & Sugar Bowl Pot; Up for sale is a set of two pieces made by RS Germany porcelain, including an oval dish with pierced handles and a sugar bowl pot with a removable cover, dated 1912-1945.

The oval dish with a base is painted with lovely water lilies with golden stamen in relief at three places. The edge of the dish is decorated with gold. The sugar bowl pot with handles is painted with beautiful roses on both sides. The cover decorated with gold at the edge is also painted with a rose. The upper edge of the sugar pot is decorated with geometric motifs like leaves and gold gilt. In addition, both the oval dish and sugar bowl pot show a good match with pale brown over a peach and cream background. The bottoms of both pieces are with the Tillowitz factory mark "RS" encircled by a wreath in green beneath a five-pointed star.

RS was the initials of Reinhold Schlegelmilch, a porcelain manufacturer in Suhl, Germany, founded in the 19^th century for almost 100 years starting from 1869. Various RS wreath marks were used on fine Schlegelmilch porcelain. Based on Wikipedia, the porcelain with the “RS Germany” mark stamped in green was started in 1910 through the WWII in Tillowitz, then Germany, (now Tulowice, Poland). Original RS porcelain is thin, lightweight, and translucent so that light can pass through it. Most original decorations were transfers or decals, whether portraits, flowers, landscapes, animals, or birds. All transfer decorations are over the glaze. In undecorated areas, original RS porcelain is smooth and glassy to the touch. Handwork was primarily to blend the edges of the transfer images into the background and apply gold or enamel trim.

Condition: Very good and clean, no chips or cracks, with minor color loss, tiny flea bites on the edge of the cover of the sugar bowl pot, consistent with age and use.
