This is an early Jaguar e-type dash ashtray as used from 1961 until May 1963 when "side wings" were added to the design.
This ashtray fits cars from inception until chassis numbers 850695/6 861149/50 879291/2 and 888512/3
Excellent condition from a collection of Jaguar E-type parts stored for many years.
WHAT MAKES THIS A RARE FIND? It is not a reproduction. The main dash assembly is very early OEM and was never fitted to a car. It carries the Provisional Patent marks as seen on original production from the supplier, these are missing from later variants.
The door has very minor swirl marks. NOTE: the leaping cat emblem had fallen off and has been reattach ed using professional modern technology 3M Emblem Tape.
Everything works as new. Unit is clean with no rust . Ashtray cup is very nice and has been repainted with high heat aluminum as original.
