Gunther Victor Ross (1899-1963) was born in Berlin and studied Fine Arts in Munich from 1920-1923. Fleeing from the Nazis in 1938, he served in the Royal Engineers Camouflage Unit during World War II. After 1945, he worked as Victor Ross, a freelance book illustrator, with his art featured in publications such as LILLIPUT, Girl, Country Fair, Basic British 1956, and the Puffin Picture Book English Fashion 1947. He is a listed artist in the Royal Academy of Art.
