Deer & Oak Chopping Board Oil Food grade mineral oil, 100ml or 250ml Hydrate, restore and protect. Odourless, tasteless and colourless, for boards, blocks, bowls and utensils.
Why a board needs oiling A wooden board loses moisture every time it is washed. Left dry it goes grey, the grain opens up, and eventually it warps or splits along the joins. None of that is repairable once it has happened. Oil replaces what the washing takes out. It sinks into the grain, keeps the board stable, and brings the colour back on wood that has already started to dull. Mineral oil is the right oil for the job because it never goes rancid. Olive oil and vegetable oil will, and a board treated with them eventually smells of it.

Four steps, once a month
A new or very dry board will drink the first coat and want a second. After that, once a month is plenty for a board in regular use, or whenever the surface starts looking dry and pale.
