I would predrill

Chair seats came in good time, in good condition. Instructions say to just screw the screws in, but that wasn't possible. Pre drilled the holes, and all went well. Bought the first four seats through Amazon. Purchased the second four seats directly from the company; saved a lot of money.

Not very durable.

I was excited to find this replacement seat for my antique chair, but it wasn't long before the cane strips started fraying/breaking. For the price, I expected it to be treated with the appropriate protectant or to last longer as is. The original seat -- an antique -- lasted 20+ yrs in our possession. This replacement lasted about 1.5 yrs. Pretty disappointing.

I bought these as replacements after the original seats broke though after 12 years . These replacement seats lasted only five months; the canes started snapping and breaking through enough to be unusable.

They look great but do not last long.

Good product, terrible to install

installation is difficult. The pre-drilled holes are in the wrong places and in any event two small to have given the screws a decent start. The frame wood is very hard�and that's good�but even having accomplished the difficult task of lining everything up and drilling starting holes in the right places, one really needs a power screwdriver to do the thing right.

Used to replace another chair seat that after a number of years the straw broke thru! My husband did have to drill new holes, the holes that were with the new seat were not aligned with the holes on the metal frame, but that is usually what we have to do with replacement seats for these chairs!

Better Than Original

I ordered one seat to check color and quality. I was very impressed with the quality as it appears better than the original. I will be ordering another soon, for a second chair. I may also replace the backs next.

You get what you pay for

These replacement seats are made in Italy and last much longer than ones I bought that were made in China for half the price. The Chinese ones were ripping within a few months, but I've purchased three of these now and none of them have shown any weakness so far. They are relatively easy to install but the wood is not soft so a power drill makes putting the screws in easier over hand work. They were shipped within two days. I would buy these again. The price seems steep compared to others you might see, but they will last longer, and the workmanship on the caning is obviously much better.

May not fit

This otherwise beautiful seat replacement did not fit my version of the Cesca. My chair is 30 years old from a reputable city furniture store. It is smaller with pre-drilled holes much closer together.

STAY AWAY

I have the Cesca chairs from Knoll. One chair's caning broke, so I got this as a replacement until I could get the caning replaced. This is a problematic replacement for the following reasons: 1. Color: Completely wrong. It's much more brown and less yellow than the Knoll chairs 2. Bent Wood: The wood feels cheap. Whereas the Knoll chair has a continuous piece of bent wood, the wood here is glued together sloppily 3. Compatibility: it does not come with screws and the holes in place were not aligned with the holes in my chairs, so I couldn't even install. STAY AWAY

This is a great replacement for my chair. We had to drill 2 new holes to align with the screw holes on the frame. The material feels better than what was on my chair originally.

Honey Oak color of the frame changed from last time ordered

The color change is noticeable on the frame. The new seats I bought have a distinctly gray black tint to them Still honey oak but looks like a charcoal wash applied. Disappointing. The cane itself is neutral and not honey oak. I expect it will yellow with age. The frame is manufactured by a different process as well.

Make sure you have a drill!

Product is as advertised! Shipping was fine. However, screw holes in the chair seat weren�t aligned with Chair Frame. Therefore, it was necessary to drill new holes to mount seat properly. A relatively easy remedy, but at that price shouldn�t have been necessary!!!!

"Pilot Holes" too small!!

The wood is very hard, the 'pilot holes' for the screws are practically non-existent (just pinpricks in the wood), and not all of us have drills!! It's a problem. . .The seat is otherwise great. . .arrived quickly and well packaged. I need to find someone with a drill!

Authentic Italian made

My chairs are over 40 years old and seats have been replaced on several over the years. These appear to be very well made. Screw holes lined up well. Color is true to description. Italian made. Confident that they will wear well. Recommend rotating chairs so no chairs get used more than others.

It�s important to read the description carefully for dimensions and color to make sure it will fit.

The chair seat arrived on time, and it was very easy to screw into the chair�holes aligned perfectly! The only downside: the color of the caning on the new honey oak seat is lighter than what is on my current chairs�I knew that from the photo, so I moved some chairs around and put a chair pad on the new seat�problem solved. Now I�m going to order another one because another chair needs a new seat.

High-quality replacement seat is identical to the broken original, and it saved my chair. I will be purchasing one for another broken chair too. I only wish the cane were more durable over time. One trick I tried years ago that may help others is, I periodically wiped the cane (top and bottom surfaces) with a special banana oil product. Maybe if I'd kept up that maintenance, the cane would have lasted longer?

Good product that I've purchased from this seller before. The seller is very responsive in following up with an e-mail and the item arrived ahead of schedule. In order to fit the seat to my Breuer arm chair I did need to drill two holes, but I expected that that would need to be done. In any case, it was not a big deal and the seat bottom was installed in a matter of minutes.

Replacement seats are well made with tight finger joints and eased edges. The finish is flawless and the caning is nicely trimmed. The seats fit perfectly on our Cesca chair frames - they are even pre-drilled for ease of fastening.

Not happy with this product

I purchased several of these replacements seats because I no longer was able to get them at a local store. At first I ordered only one seat, just to be sure it was the proper size, etc. When it arrived, it appeared to be what I needed and I quickly ordered a few more. They fit my Breuer frames perfectly and they look nice, but they are so hard to sit on that my hip and leg started hurting! Even after a few weeks of use, there is not the slightest give to them. For the chair I generally use every day, I have had to substitute an old wooden chair; then I have to switch them around when someone other than family visits.
