Improve life of cane

After many replacements of cane seats, I have tried multicoats both top and underside of cane with a clear urethane coating. (Regular moisture spraying of the cane gets forgotten eventually and the cane tears.) You think the urethane idea can work to protect the cane?

Chair bottoms good! Shipping with Fedex: not!

I purchased replacement cane seats and glides for Breuer chairs, and received the parts (in Canada) about five weeks later. Generally speaking, the fit and functionality of the parts is very good (although one glide of 16 did break). Shipping the product to Canada was unpleasant and expensive because of Fedex. I initially paid over $100 USD to ship a $300 USD shipment. This amount was supposed to cover everything but import duties (there were none) and Canadian sales tax, which are charged at the border. Instead, two weeks after delivery of the product, I received an invoice from Fedex for an additional $116. It took months to resolve that bill to my satisfaction.

Deliver the backs that are paid for please.

The piece by itself is perfect, it was very difficult to install it, the holes in the chair do not correspond to the screw holes.

SAVED MY KITCHEN SET

First, I should point out that I have no idea if the chairs I have are Marcel Breuer Cesca Chairs. I have had my set of six chairs for over 20 years. These chairs have survived the brutality my 5 kids have put them through including eating meals, playing games, doing school projects, homework, etc. My kids are all grown now, but I still really like my chairs because they have arms, and my elderly parents (who have moved in with us) can easily get in and out of them. The other day, a group of us were playing games, and one of my friends literally fell thru the cane seat. We all had a good laugh, but it left me with the dilemma of trying to figure out if the chair could be repaired and at what expense. I started checking online to see if I could find some reed to try to do the repair myself and just by luck, I found this replacement seat which looked exactly like my chairs. I read the reviews and thought, what have I got to lose? I certainly didn't want to replace all six chairs - that would be too costly, and I wasn't sure how a reed repair job would turn out or how badly I'd mess it up trying to do it myself, so I ordered the seat bottom in the black finish. Delivery was estimated to be about a week to 10 days. I was completely surprised because I received it 3 days later. It matched so well that I ordered 2 more on a Saturday night and received them the following Thursday. As far as the wood framing, if there is any difference from my originals, I don't see it. As with other reviews, the pilot holes for the screws to attach the seat were slightly off, but that was an easy fix. I'm a female in my seventies, and all I did was mark the bottom of the seat and drill new pilot holes. The whole installation probably took less than 5 to 10 minutes. Also, as with other reviews, the color of the cane is slightly lighter than the old cane, but I have no doubt that it will soon darken to match, because my original chairs were this same light color when purchased. To be perfectly honest, the difference in color is so subtle that unless you pull out two chairs and put them side by side (in the light - as I did in the attached photo), and specifically look for the difference in color, nobody will ever notice. There is so much variation in room lighting in general, that any of the people that I have asked if they saw any difference, never noticed until I pointed it out to them - including the gentleman whose butt fell through the initial chair :-)

Easy availability. The free shipping is also a big plus.

Replacement for a worn out seat.

How do we return it and get a refund?

It does not fit our bent-wood rocker. Too wide and our chair has both front and rear of the seat curved, where the one you sent has the rear of the seat straight. Not good. Would like to return for a refund. Please let me know where to send it. Thank you

Watch out for knockoffs

Ordered this because it says "Breuer Cesca Chair " replacement seat. I have an original Breuer cesca chair but this seat is not the real thing. It's a knockoff!!! The predrilled holes for attaching this are wrong. It doesn't have the gentle curve at the front of the seat. I will attempt to redrill it and see if it works. I am VERY disappointed and NOT happy.

The replacement is smaller than the original seat. It was impossible to replace it. I do not recommend this replacement to anyone that has an original Marcel Breuer chair. Bad product.

Everything OK. Replacement fits perfectly in our old chair. Of course colour is quite different but that was expected as indicated in the product information.

Great product.

Perfect fit! The chairs are 30 years old, one seat tore last year, and another this year. getting the seat Caned again would have been more expensive than the original replacement. Amazing the color difference, but they age well, and a year later, you can hardly tell the difference.

Happy with the replacement cane

The replacement cane seat was easy to install and looks good. Holds up so far. Did require the use of a drill because the holes did not match holes already drilled in the chair frame.
