Four very desirable hunt scenes from a series published in England in 1818 by S&J Fuller and attributed to Alken. Framed or reframed in the last few decade and show well. Individual pictures surface occasionally, sometimes a pair, but rarely a set of four. As a point of reference, Christie’s is offering a
“full set” of seven next month with an estimate between £2-3000 but admittedly a bit sharper. This
“short set” constitutes a natural arc and includes “Gone Away”, “”Framing a Cover”, “The Cry” and
“The Refreshment”. As such, I can’t split up the set.
