Description:
This product is a current regulation IC with an input voltage of 2.9 V to 6.1 V. The constant output current can be set to 1.5 A using an external resistor. The product consists of a high precision reference voltage, amplifier, and current mirror. The on-chip power transistor and current sense block greatly reduce the number of external components, which makes the product ideal for LED drivers.
When the EN pin is high, the input voltage is greater than 2.9V and greater than the LED forward voltage plus the required voltage drop, the product operates normally, providing a constant current from the LED pin.
The product uses temperature regulation rather than temperature protection. Temperature regulation allows the LED to stay lit when the ambient temperature is high or when the voltage drop is high. When the product junction temperature reaches approximately 135°C, the internal temperature regulation block reduces the LED current so that the junction temperature does not rise. This feature allows users to maximize the chip's power handling capabilities without worrying about overheating the chip and damaging the chip or external components.
The product also features a chip enable function that shuts down the entire chip, limiting current consumption to 1uA.
The product also features an over-current protection block. When the LED current approaches 0.9A (typical), the overcurrent protection block kicks in to prevent further increases in LED current.
