Australian Blackwood Back And Sides Luthier.
Scientific name: Acacia melanoxylin
Also known as Australianblack wood or Tasmanian blackwood or Acacia
This is a very interesting tonewood.
Same genus as koa and is the closest substitution for Koa.
Tonally will sound the same as koa.
The density is 660kg/m3 which is between mahogany and rosewood.
Easy to work with, easy to bend and easy to stain if needed. This tonewood looks pale when sanded and darkens beautifully when finish applied.
Please examine the photos. I have included some photos of sanded backs and sides and bent sides to show how beautiful it is.
Please note: the photos are samples as we have many sets available in stock. All sets are premiumbquartersawn and have uniform grain.
If you buy more than one set, we will try to send sets from the same batch.
Approximate dimensions:
Back - 55x22xm
Sides - 82x12/15cm
Please message if you require a bigger set.
