In 2006, west coast professional magician, Tony Clark, gathered a few of his magic pals together and shot a live performance DVD of close-up magic.  Along with Clark, performers include Jason Alexander, David Regal, and Lou Serrano.   These guys each do a few effects for a group of people like you would find in a bar or cocktail party.

You get a chance to see these performers working the crowd, and doing some of their strongest commercial close-up.   In the "Secrets" section, each performer teaches ONE of the effects that he performed.  So, yes, you only learn FOUR tricks on this DVD, but they are all good, strong and practical effects, and you also get to learn from just watching these pro's performing for an audience.

(I will admit that I found one of the performer's style a bit smarmy -- the kind of attitude that makes a lot of people not like magicians.  But others of the performers do demonstrate how to truly connect with an audience and not just be satisfied to get polite laughter at tired jokes.)

Explained in the secrets section:  David Regal's excellent Wild Card handling, Tony Clark's Knife through coat, Lou Serrano's Card in frame, and Jason Alexander explains the borrowed ring on string, with a neat climax where the ring vanishes and appears in a card box.

And if you are an experienced and knowledgeable magician, you will know how some of the unexplained effects work, and you will find some additional material for your repertoire.   Tony Clark's Psychic Snake is a very cool routine, easy to do, and will make you want to go to the craft store and find the stuff to make your own Psychic snake.    (A couple of the unexplained items are dealer tricks -- like Regal's Disposable deck -- which you may want to buy after watching them.   Austin Brooks does a guest appearance to demo his own dealer item, called Signed Off.  It is a great version of the old 52-on-1 card gag.   No explanation, but if you have a good sense of magical methods, you may be able to make this one up yourself.

This DVD was (I think) "Volume One" in what I am sure Clark planned on making a series of DVDs, but seems like he never did any additional ones that I can find.   

Originally prices at $20, I see it selling for $15, and I will do a bit better than that price -- a bargain!
