TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF SHIPMENTS OF GOODS TO THE USA

Hellenic Post (ELTA) would like to inform you about the temporary suspension of shipments containing goods to the United States and its territories, effective from August 26, 2025.

This temporary suspension comes as a result of the stricter US customs rules. More specifically:
1. As of August 29, 2025, items / goods that were previously exempt from duties, i.e. items with a value below $800, will now be subject to duties from the very first dollar.
2. These duties must be paid to US Customs BEFORE the goods enter the country.

The technical specifications and implementation details were published by the US Customs Service on 15 August 2025, but further clarifications are required regarding the published documents and the relevant decree.

Postal operators across Europe are working together to fulfill these obligations as soon as possible, but many of them have already announced a temporary suspension of shipments to the US
