An original copy of The Southern Planter for August 1860.  Pages 449 to 510 and advertising section 1-16 and 3-6.  The ads are particularly great.  The Civil War was coming, but there is no mention here.  There is a long letter complaining about Virginia’s tax system.  Most articles deal with geological and agricultural topics.
