LINN LOVEJOY PHELAN, LINN PHELAN (American, 1906-1992), one of the
most famous New York based artist-potter worked with earthenware clay that was
coated with earthy-colored base glaze that was then decorated using sgraffito
along with under and over glazes. His inventories indicate he produced nearly
39,000 ceramic pieces during his career.
