The Author

Alan Cumming OBE FRSE is an award-winning Scottish actor, singer, writer, producer and director. His London stage appearances include Hamlet, the Maniac in Accidental Death of an Anarchist (for which he received an Olivier Award), the lead in Bent, The National Theatre of Scotland's The Bacchae and Samuel Beckett's Endgame at The Old Vic opposite Daniel Radcliffe. On Broadway, he has appeared in The Threepenny Opera, as the master of ceremonies in Cabaret, Design for Living, and an acclaimed one-man staging of Macbeth.

He has appeared on the Emmy Award-winning television show The Good Wife. He won a Tony Award for his portrayal of the Emcee in the Broadway musical Cabaret, a role he reprised in 2014. He has hosted PBS Masterpiece Mystery and has appeared in numerous films, Including Spy Kids, Titus, X2:X-Men United, The Anniversary Party, Any Day Now and Eyes Wide Shut.

Synopsis

A beloved star of stage and screen, Alan Cumming's life and career have been shaped by a complex and dark family past - full of troubled memories, kept buried away.
